You just have to make sure the holes for the ball pins line up just right (drill them with bumpers ziptied in place) otherwise you will fight with it every time
I like the idea, but isn't 1" the outside width of the C-channel, and not the inside width? Do you have to somehow pry the C channel open a bit to make this work?

Why is it too far? I am positing a hypothetical. It could be just far enough. It could be not far enough. So would you mind explaining why it's too far?

The point, which you seem to be missing like anybody swinging at a Kenley Jansen cutter, is that there are a lot of interactions that have to be dealt with in the rules, both on and off the field. How you place your lines and make rules around them (and factor in your possession and contact rules) is a function of all of those interactions. This is a multivariable equation. You don't solve multivariable equations the same way you solve singlevariable equations, right?

We use C channel from the old AndyMark simple chassis (C-Base). It slips over 1" box channel and 80/20. The radius of the C Channel hits on the sharp corners of box channel though. You can still buy the C-Channel

Sure it will make the manual slightly longer, but we're talking a few extra lines to a document that's already a novel as it is.
The problem is you link to something in the manual then by extension it becomes part of the rules even if that was not the intention. An example of that is in past years the rules referenced a pheumatic's manual. Some (inspectors included) thought the it was part of the rules. So when it showed a way to do something, that became the way to do it. It is also a lot more to review and keep up to date.
