Don't know, but I wonder if Rockhurst being a religious school has anything to do with change. My guess is not, but it is a consideration.

Re: Registration 2019

Districts are a little different probably because of the home event systems.
Also, the math is oddly different, for instance, there are 5 districts where total registered teams is greater that the total teams (total/registered appended at the end of each):
  • -6 FIM District Midland Event -- 20/26
  • -3 FIM District Kettering University Event #1 -- 24/27
  • -3 FIT District Pasadena Event -- 18/21
  • -1 FNC District Wake County Event -- 30/31
  • -1 FIT District Channelview Event -- 21/22
With that in mind here is where we stand with District registration.
Remember: Many districts are filtering teams onto their lists for 1st or home preferences.

0 --- FIM District Kettering University Event #1
0 --- FIM District Kingsford Event
0 --- FIM District Lakeview Event
0 --- FIM District Midland Event
0 --- FIT District Amarillo Event
0 --- FIT District Channelview Event
0 --- FIT District Del Rio Event
0 --- FIT District El Paso Event
0 --- FIT District Pasadena Event
0 --- FIT District San Antonio Event
0 --- FNC District Wake County Event
0 --- ONT District Durham College Event
2 --- FIM District Kettering University Event #2
2 --- FIT District Austin Event
2 --- IN District St. Joseph Event
2 --- NE District UNH Event
2 --- ONT District University of Waterloo Event
2 --- PNW District Wilsonville Event
3 --- FIM District Lincoln Event
3 --- FIM District Traverse City Event
3 --- FMA District Mount Olive Event
1 --- FIM District Center Line Event
4 --- CHS District Bethesda MD Event
4 --- CHS District Richmond VA Event
4 --- FIM District West Michigan Event
4 --- PNW District Auburn Mountainview Event
4 --- PNW District Glacier Peak Event
4 --- PNW District Mount Vernon Event
5 --- FIM District Detroit Event
5 --- ONT District Humber College Event
5 --- PNW District Auburn Event
6 --- NE District Granite State Event
7 --- FIM District Southfield Event
7 --- FIT District Dallas Event
7 --- PNW District Clackamas Academy Event
7 --- PNW District SunDome Event
9 --- FMA District Hatboro-Horsham Event
9 --- PNW District Lake Oswego Event
10 – FIM District Gull Lake Event
10 – FIM District Lansing Event

298 rookies, 21 returning teams. 549 teams from 2018 are MIA, but that includes over half of Israel, almost half of Australia (still not sure what's up with Australias low registration numbers?), and unfortunately one third of China. Currently two thirds of teams from Taiwan are rookies (12/18). Michigan is at 14 rookies but I expect that to increase eventually.

Over last few years there have been a lot of teams in Australia that have only lasted for a season or two so many of the teams not registered at this moment will not compete this season.
For a number of reasons only few of teams started in schools will survive.

Quite a few teams from China used to compete in Australia prior to 2018. Last year there were 10 teams from China registered to compete in Sydney, they have not shown up and none of them competed at events in China last year either, I can't see these teams on this year events in China.

Re: Registration 2019

I made a Tableau workbook based on Justin's registration data, with maps of both percentage of MIA teams and change in number of teams from 2018 to 2019.

Re: Registration 2019

Crossed the 3500 team point this morning.
Now at 3508 teams.

That's almost 64% of the 5499 advertised spaces available at Regionals/Districts.

Re: Registration 2019

Some final numbers before second event registrations and before the 3 Chinese regionals have been un-registered. Will post some updates once TBA populates.

Re: Registration 2019

Looks like no new teams added for some Cali events. Was 45 at OCR, still 45 at OCR.
We are on waitlist. Hoping local teams get spots.

Re: Registration 2019

We are also waitlisted for our 2nd event (Ventura). Am I wrong in thinking that if the system waitlists you for your 1st pick instead of registering you for your 2nd pick, then that means there a decent shot of you being accepted from the waitlist into your 1st? By "decent shot" I mean mathematically the waitlist + pre waitlist capacity doesn't exceed the typical total event capacity for that event.

Or is that just wishful thinking on my part

Re: Registration 2019

Sounds like wishful thinking.
The lottery portion of this is an automated process after all.

Are you sure your 2nd choice wasn't also at waitlist status?
Then that'd leave you waiting for your first event.

We were bumped from our first choice and placed into our second option.

Re: Registration 2019

From what I remember, Ventura had around 6 spots left for pre waitlist capacity of 30 teams going into lottery #2, it's typically a 42 team event.

Re: Registration 2019

For us we picked Laguna Regional here in mexico as our second pick... We decided to go local first and then see if there is any regional left for triple play, from what I can see now it seems there isn't many with many spots left, anyone have any suggestions for an event to pick?

Also anyone wanna come down to Mexico to play on 2019? It seems there is still spots on most regionals down here...

Re: Registration 2019

What Mark said - When it came to your team's "turn" in the process, if there was space at any of the events you preferenced, you got into that event (according to your preference order). You only get put on the waitlist (the event you selected as your waitlist event) if everything on your preference list was already at the stated capacity (which is different from the final capacity! For example, 10,000 Lakes will max out at 63, but the current stated capacity is 53.
This gives the RD's a little wiggle room with the waitlist to handle late registering teams that don't even have a first event yet)
