229 had a great time at TVR, we definitely exceeded our expectations! Thank you to 6300 and 1493 for joining our 5th seeded alliance, we had a tough draw in the first round.

Also shout out to the field crew, they did an amazing job keeping the field in a playable condition and keeping us on time.

Re: 2017 New York Tech Valley Regional

Team 20 had an awesome time at Tech Valley this weekend! Thank you to teams 195 and 6459 for an awesome set of matches in playoffs. It was wonderful to work with you.
Congratulations to teams 333, 2791, and 5952 for winning the event! Those semi finals matches were hard fought on both sides of the field, and I'm glad to see all of you go on to win your first event.
3044, between your outreach efforts and passion for FRC, I cannot think of a more deserving team for this year's TVR Chairman's Award. Congratulations!
Special thank you to teams 1493 and 6300. It was great to have you join our scouting alliance, and we hope to work with you again next year.
Volunteers, field crew, and planning committee, this event could not be what it is without all of your amazing work. Thank you very much for all that you do.

Wanted to extend a huge congratulations to 2791 on finally getting that win!

I've had the chance to see this team develop since 2009 through Chris, and I'm super happy for you guys! Best of luck at Half Champs and make sure this is the start of a new streak of wins.

Re: 2017 New York Tech Valley Regional

Congratulations to all teams, judges, volunteers, field crew, referees, and spectators for a phenomenal regional! I can honestly say I've never seen a FIRST event run more smoothly and on schedule than TVR 2017. Special congratulations to 333, 2791, and 5952 on their first regional win, 6459 on a well-deserved Rookie All Star Award win, and 3044 on their first regional Chairman's Award! With our first regional Engineering Inspiration Award, we're so excited to be representing New York Tech Valley alongside 333, 2791, 5952, 6459, 3044, and 4508 at the FIRST Championship in April! Finally, a special thank you to 20, 3044, 4508, 5236, 5240, 6459, and especially 5943 for displaying true Gracious Professionalism in the midst of competition. See you in St. Louis!

Re: 2017 New York Tech Valley Regional

Wow, what a weekend. I still can't quite believe it.

First, I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Team 20. Since day one you have been there to help us find our way and we wouldn't be where we are now without your help. You have been an irreplaceable resource for us whether its opening your shop to us at the 11th hour our first few years, helping our programmers year after year, or letting us double check our scouting data against more robust data. There's a reason you won your third consecutive Gracious Professionalism Award and it's unfortunate our path to victory ran through you this time. Someday soon we'll win one together.

Second, a huge contrats to 4508 on captaining the finalist alliance and qualifying for St. Louis. Our drivers are as good as they are in part because your human players ran gears from the airship back to the feeder station for us during practice without ever being asked. I hope your success this weekend is a sign of things to come.

And finally, a big thanks to our alliance partners 333 and 5952. We knew the only way to win was with 4 rotors and together we were able to pull it off. See you in St. Louis!

Re: 2017 New York Tech Valley Regional

Team 1493 had a great time as always at TVR. After reading horror stories about field damage, events being way behind schedule, etc. I was pretty worried how things would go after a huge snow storm right before the event. However the event could not have gone better, it was on time, organized, and hardly any field issues. Hats off to everyone involved.

The elimination matches were some of the most exciting I have seen in awhile at TVR. Friends of mine who have never been to a FRC event ended up staying till the end of finals because they were so into the excitement.

Could not be happier for 2791, great group of students and mentors.

Finally getting selected to join the alliance with 6300 and 229 was an honor. 229 is probably the friendliest and nicest team I have ever had the chance to work with in eliminations. Getting to talk strategy with them was one of my fav parts of the weekend. 6300 is years ahead of most rookie teams and wish them best of luck this weekend at HVR.

Re: 2017 New York Tech Valley Regional

In my first year as a student on Team 20, 7 years ago, I remember a small second year team coming to join us at our shop. It was the last weekend of build season, their pneumatic system was leaking, and they needed help getting their robot programmed. We watched Team 2791 ("Terminal Velocity" at the time) go on to captain 2 alliances that year by making the most of their machine.

Throughout the 7 seasons prior to this year, Team 20 made it a habit of eliminating them from the playoffs (5 times to be exact, and 4 in the last 3 years). Across the 2012, 2013, and 2016 seasons, 2791 saw 4 regional wins, that were theirs to lose, slip through their fingers. One time, we lost as alliance partners on the #1 seed.

This past weekend, we meet again in the semifinals at TVR. 2791 was none too pleased to be on THAT side of the bracket, AGAIN. In the first match, the #1 seed of 195, 20, and 6459 is stunned, as 2791 and company shake and bake past our defense to get all 4 rotors turning at the last second. Match 2, the #1 seed alliance changes things up a bit and out plays the blue alliance with a strategic adjustment. Match 3, and the match seems similar to the prior match. The #1 seed out plays #4, up until the closing seconds. 20's drive train fails, 3 feet away from the rope, preventing us from climbing. This opens the door for Shaker's climb at the last possible instant to claim victory by 48 points. It's no mistake that the most robust alliance came out on top.

Team 2791 is the epitome of perseverance. The amount of fight in this team is unparalleled, and I am excited to see what they will be able to achieve at the (half) World Championship stage. It really stinks losing like that, especially given that I feel particularly responsible for our easily preventable drive train failure. But if the shoe has to be on the other foot, I'm at least glad that Shaker Robotics is the beneficiary. Congrats to Brian(s), Chris, Jack, Max, Cam, Brad, Nancy, and the whole Shaker Robotics family over the years. Your journey has been an absolute inspiration, and you can bet that the loss this weekend will push us to continue improving. Luck is where the crossroads of opportunity and preparation meet.
#NotSoShakyAnymore

Of course 2791 had help along the way from their alliance partners. Congrats to 333 and 5952 as well for their outstanding performance and consistency!

Huge thanks to 195 for selecting us to join their alliance. We've had an incredible bond between our teams for quite some time now, and it was great getting to play with you guys again. Sorry our drive train let our alliance down.

And to 6459, from Istanbul, Turkey, I could see the potential in your robot and your team when we worked together throughout Thursday to get you ready for inspection. Your climb was looking great leading up to alliance selections, and your gear output was on the rise. It was just unfortunate timing with the rope failure and very little time that led to a close loss. Thank you for being so flexible and willing to work on your robot together throughout the weekend. It is unfortunate that we will not get to see each other since you are going to Houston, but we hope to see you back at the Tech Valley Regional in the future! Best of luck at the World Championship, and safe travels!

Huge congrats to 3044 for their Chairman's Award; your outreach and community engagement efforts are a fantastic example of how to spread the message of FIRST!

We're excited to see many teams again at Hudson Valley next weekend, and you can bet we will be ready as ever to tear it up out on the field.
