Re: IRI - PRELIMINARY MATCH LIST

Congratulations to everyone who competed. I have a couple specific congratulations to give out.

Congratulations 1619! You guys are world class, and we in Colorado are incredibly glad to have you. You are an incredible example to all of us here in Colorado and we couldn't be prouder to have you guys represent us at IRI. (Sure we might want to see you lose Colorado next year ) But I have nothing but respect for your team and what you do.

Congratulations Allen! You deserved it. Thank you (and your team) for being such an excellent example to me this season.

So we're the New England Patriots or Golden State Warriors of the Colorado Regional now?

That's a bit of a stretch. For me it's more that I'll be happy to see someone else win rather than see you lose, as long as it's another Colorado team that wins.

Re: IRI - PRELIMINARY MATCH LIST

Didn't get a chance to watch live. Anyone care to share how match timing went? Were matches on time/ahead/behind?

Trying to get a feel for match deltas.

They wanted to do seven minute turnaround times and we ended up falling as far behind as an hour and a half. Saturday we did much better but still finished 45 minutes late.
With the emphasis om field crew cleanup before teams can go onto the field this is not a six or seven minute turnaround game.

Did I overhear field staff reminding teams to turn on robots in queue, before entering the field? That is one way to decrease match cycle time.

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Towards the end of Friday that was what was going on. I dont recall if something similar was implemented on Saturday.

I was out in the hallway checking in teams lining up to come to the field but that's what I heard.
IRI tends to die the death of a thousand paper cuts. They lose a minute here and a minute there and next thing you know you're an hour behind. We just keep plugging away til we succeed all the same.

Re: IRI - PRELIMINARY MATCH LIST

Thank you for the info. I've been looking at events I've attended and others to try to establish a realistic schedule for Beach Blitz in October. Planning for 8-8.5min turnaround seems pretty safe.

And make sure to run some drills with the field staff on getting all those whiffle balls to a safe place in 30 seconds or less--midfield can work, so can the retrieval zone side (scoring table side), but the sooner the ball counting is out of the way (and in progress) the faster the teams can come on.

That's what we ran at TRI and it worked pretty well. Also work with you MCs to get matches started quickly. They don't have to intro every team if the field is green. Get people set and tell the audience who is playing during Auton. Waiting on a green field for 2 mins while intros are happening is a way bigger time sink then powering on robots on the field.

+1 - The redundant introductions are well, redundant. Keeping the normal course of matches with intros should not be the priority. If the field is ready, go.
