Flywheel Prototype with Slow Motion Video

We're a bit late to this party, but this was our first prototype of the “flywheel” design that has floated around the FIRST community a lot in the last week.

Our rig was very simple: a wheel mounted on a hand drill. We fed the Rebound Rumble balls in between this rig and a sheet of plywood (yes, we wore safety glasses).

The reason I posted this was because of the slow motion shots we got. Based upon the slow motion shots, it appears that it would have been more effective if we had held the drill from the other side and turned the wheel counterclockwise to give it a backspin. But alas, what is the point of experimenting?

Anyone else able to make some conclusions based upon these shots?
