STAMP II not responding to computer

Hello

I'm trying to connect the Robot Controller to my PC so I can program it.

All the wires are in place and the power is turned on and everything is as it is supposed to be (ithink)

When I run the stamp editor and try to Identify
(ctrl - I), I get the following error :

I don't know what's the problem. The power is on, and the Status LED's are all working.

???

You appear to have omitted the error message text from your post.

The three obvious things to check:

1. that the programming utility is set to use the same port you are physically connected to
2. that you are set to use the correct baud rate
3. that your interface cable is good.

I thought of one more:
Check to make sure that the jumpper is set to the user program and not the default Scetion 9 pg 33.

I know this may sound dumb, but it happened to me:
Make sure that you are indeed supplying 5 volts to the board. I had a 9 volt battery regulated to 5 volts, but the battery was actually run down below 5 volts. The LED indictor will shine brightly down to about 2 volts so it can fool you into thinking that your power source is OK.

Make sure you have selected the BS2SX as the stamp mode (Edit->Prefrences->Editor Operation)for the Innovation First controller or the BS2 for the 1998-1999 controller
