Where to get wires to hook up sensors
I was just wondering where I could get the wire, headers, and crimpers to assemble my own cables for the sensors. I haven't really been able to find anything around the internet.
If that isn't possible, could someone link me to somewhere that has female [2 and 3 pin] cables. |

Re: Where to get wires to hook up sensors
Digikey offers most everything that pertains to wire, headers and the crimping tools. You should have also received a $50 gift card in this year's KOP.

Use the wires provided in the KOP. You will have to cut and/or splice them.

Re: Where to get wires to hook up sensors
1. Digikey, alright...
2. Already used all the wires with the KOP ps-> already used the $50 on jaguars Edit: so I went to Digikey. I then saw that there was over 3000 pages in their catalog. Could someone tell me the names of what I need, because I have no clue. Last edited by agartner01 : 07-02-2012 at 21:27. |

I've always been happy with stuff from Hansen Hobbies.

Re: Where to get wires to hook up sensors
I have had good luck with these.
They are not designed for soldering directly to wires, but you can if you are careful. They are also a bit flimsy unless you encapsulate them with epoxy or hot glue and heat shrink. But they are cheap, they do not require a custom crimping tool, you can cut them to any length, and they can produce a robust custom connector if you take some care. I also think that using them encourages students to improve soldering and assembly skills. http://search.digikey.com/us/en/prod...7034-ND/810173 |

This is what I ended up going with:
