Field Information
Posted by Michael Martus.   [PICTURE: SAME | NEW | HELP]
Coach on team #47, Chief Delphi, from Pontiac Central H.S. and Delphi Automotives Systems. Posted on 1/17/2000 6:23 PM MST I asked several questions regarding the field of Frank Melanson (in charge of building the fields for FIRST). Here are the questions and answers for all to see.1. Is the plywood 1/2 inch? 1. Is the plywood 1/2 inch? Answer Yes. 2. Is each side a full 4x8 sheet? Answer Yes. 3. Is the end of the plywood beveled where it touches the carpet or is the carpet wrapped over? Answer. No, the carpet runs slightly past the plywood edge, stopping at the field carpet. That edge is attached to the floor with a 2' band of black cloth duct tape. This leaves a minimal 'bump' at the floor edge. 4. Is the height 1 ft to peak? (note 1/2 inch plywood is not 1/2 inch anymore ). Answer. Yes, the nominal height is 1 foot to the peak (including carpet). Due to the inaccurate nature of wood we could not give precise measurements here. The exact height will be closer to 11 3/4' (remember there is a +/- 1' disclaimer on the blueprint). As per Frank Melanson FIRST |
