Can we use camera information in teleop?

My team is trying to program an automatic target finder. So we're try to take camera information and process it into directions for the motors with an over-ride for manual control. We're not quite sure how to go about this. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Can we use camera information in teleop?

There's no restriction against how much automation you program in.

For your application, you want to use the camera image to determine how far left or right the target is from where you want it to be. The difference will determine how much you want to rotate. You probably won't be able to rely on the image to be updated quickly enough to use it as the only sensor, so you will have to have a way of telling what direction you're facing. When you know how far you want to turn, add that to the current direction to get a target direction, and rotate until you reach the target. Update the desired direction each time you get a good result from the camera processing.
