Re: 2012 MARC predictions

I'd vote but it would be bais towards my team =P. I am slightly curious as to the reasoning behind your predictions. If you could give a short blurb on why you put these teams where they are that'd be great =)

Re: 2012 MARC predictions

67: Coop/Hybrid kings let them into #1
469: See MSC, Troy, and Waterford
33: Com problems fixed, amazing at all aspects of game
3098: Constant improvement, key shooter and wide
3322: Key/stinger/wide
51: Key/auto/wide but no stinger drags them this far down
2337: Long keeps them this low but key/stinger
1023: Key/wide/stinger but no bump
1718: Key/wide/auto no stinger and has consistency problems
1918: No mans land shooting often/wide/auto but not overly consistent shooting
123: My dark horse, key shooting improves and surprise everyone
48: Long but drops this far do to being out of state and unknown, will surprise people once they have to pay attention in elims, steal this low
494: Key/Wide
70: Picked by twin
68: Improved tremendously for worlds but no stinger and fear of bump
245: Key/wide/auto
3539: Stinger needed along with bump crossing, long keeps them this low but if they can triple will round out this alliance perfectly
1732: Dropped this far due to out of state another wide bot
2834: Wide desperately needed, auto and fender shooting
830: See MSC
2851: Need another wide bot, great auto, steal due to being somewhat unknowns still
910: Secret stinger added after Troy (guessing) is needed plus wide and auto
862: Needed solid defense/stinger makes up for being long
308: Auto/ability to be wide (forgotten by a few) but inconsistency keeps them so low

Possible longest post for me so far, again no offence to other teams, I was on drive team and did not watch all of you play. Also I will be amazed if 1 of these is right!

We actually had a stinger at Troy, but I don't think we ever used it.

I think this is fair; we never really incorporated crossing the bump into our gameplay and chose instead to cross the bridges quickly (which we can do) when running the length of the field.

I would not be surprised if one of these alliances actually comes true--they're all built to complement one another.

Of course 67-469 is a likely duo, but I could see 2851 being a sleeper to come back around to the 1st alliance; we've already seen that alliance at Waterford--and chemistry can be even more valuable than skill in the eliminations.

Re: 2012 MARC predictions

I'd just like to throw in that even with a long bot, you don't need a stinger to balance. During the elims on Newton with 330 and 639 I believe 330 used their stinger only once, with each balance taking around 5 seconds.

(330 is long and 639 is wide. 68 is also wide.)

You definitely used it in the eliminations of Troy.

I can't wait to see how new drivers effects some of the previously invincible teams. Only time will tell.

That was what allowed you guys to come back from the dead after getting tipped over early in QF1-1.

Actually, that was our wheelie bar in the back of our robot that allowed us to right ourself. Our "stipper" (stinger/tipper) is on the front of our robot and that helped us triple at troy. Both mechanisms do have the capabilities to manipulate the bridge though.

I couldn't tell either, I was behind the glass watching the score. I knew that triple was coming... happened a little to fast for my liking. I'm sure 910 will be a surprise force after a long time to improve.

With drivers, I feel like we're at a slight disadvantage, our robot is at HQ for awhile with only the practice bot around.
