Re: ACER ICONIA

I believe if it can run LabVIEW it can work as a driver station

Edit: I completely forgot about the ethernet port... But yes you will need one, or a least an adapter that you can test with the field

That being considered, you would have to use a laptop-style tablet. I'm not sure why you would go that route unless you plan on a touchscreen being integral to your DS setup.
Quoted from the other thread that you started where you posted a near identical question. Did the above answer not suffice?

Re: ACER ICONIA

I see no reason why it shouldn't... assuming it has an ethernet port. I suppose if it doesn't have an ethernet there are USB adapters to solve that problem, but that's not an ideal solution and just adds points of failure.

On the other hand, the same company that makes the KoP netbook also has a touchscreen hybrid variant with a screen that can fold over into a tablet formfactor:

Pro-version (more expensive):

And here's the traditional DS netbook:

To be honest, I'm just not sure how much utility a touchscreen would be (and it would certainly depend on the game), but if it's something your team is interested in and you think it'll be useful then go for it.

For the record though, I do think something like the hybrid classmate would be more appropriate (and I'm sure the FIRST officials would agree) because of the hard-coded emergency stop button. And unless you find a good way to secure the Iconia you might find lugging it around on a fairly heavy driver station where you have no possibility to catch it if it fell is a bit precarious.
