Congratulations to team 47!

I didn't catch all the comments due to web congestion, but its apparent that team 47
has got it right. Previous recipients of the Chairman's Award, and nominated again for
year-round efforts, documented alumnus successes, and unselfish technology sharing.

I've already robbed a few of your ideas for inclusion in our improving school partnership.
Hope to get some more!

Congratulations team 47!

Maybe I am a little out of it here, maybe it's the jet lag...
but I am going to congratulate my own team.

A team of 15 and only 2 returning students; mostly kids who are normally shy, kids who are freshmen, sophomores and seniors. Students who all come from different schools and different residental areas; kids, who for the most part, had nothing in common. Students who had to withstand a semester of classes to help them become the best of the best; students who stayed up until 2 working on things to do with our team.
Kids who came together and got a very small team a finalist spot for the chairman's award. Students who did all they could to convince the judges that we deserved what we had worked so hard for. A small sponsor, 2 engineers, 2 advisors and 3 teachers. Did I mention 100% enthusiastic spirit?

Congratulations Team 1, your performance in the pits was top-notch, and now I have realized that the effort James, Rick and I spent on the video was TIME WELL-SPENT.

While some people could claim that I am biased for various reasons(which we won't go into here =), I would have to say that I have never considered team 1 to be a 'small' team, as you put it, erin. While many teams are small in size, apart from them being the teams that make the most noise in the stands, I don't really remember the large teams. I remember the teams that, through their robot's performance, pit(yes, I wander the pits on a regular basis, looking for ideas to improve our own for next year,) and other things(such as VERY cool handouts,) grab my attention. Oh, and a team that for two years in a row, went with a design that 'broke the mold' of the majority of the other machines, and ended up bringing home one of the two biggest trophies(and yes, those national champion trophies are HEAVY!) helps too! =)

Also, after attending one of your meetings by invitation, it seems that I have been adopted in by your group. While I will admit that it is a lot easier to remember one more name than it is 20, it seemed like at all of the events, whenever I would pass any of your team members(in the pits, at the hotel, etc.), they would call me by name...and I'll admit, other than knowing what team they were from, I didn't remember who most of them were...needless to say, I wear my juggy hat with pride(and did at the regionals during elims, for those that didn't see =), and will be looking forward to competing with team 1 again next year!

Nate
