I believe that 604 usually does the webcast for Sacramento, but I have no idea if they will be doing it this time.

I'd say we're ready to rumble, but we'd be off by a year.

Ready to...ascend? Ultimately?

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional

701 just finished tuning in the pyramid goal shot with our practice bot today. Hopefully that will help us squeek out a few more points in each scoring cycle. Davis is going to be an awesome regional this year, we are really looking forward to it!

Oh we are soooo ready for our home competition.
701 coming to Davis to compete hard and fast with our alliance partners.

I suggest everyone bring their A game.

Hmmm...I think I saw a rather familiar sticker on 701's robot at CVR.....

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional

1671 has been making a lot of modifications to the practice Bot with increasing our shooter potential and our code. Going to hit Davis hard, can't wait to compete with a lot of great teams.

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional

100 is ready! We've been perfecting our scoring time on our practice bot... 23 seconds a cycle on a half court field is our current best. We'll spend Thursday perfecting our 30 point climb as well as giving our drivers shooting practice and developing our autonomous. I'm very excited about this years bot.

We're looking event where any of five or so teams has a very good shot of seeding first... this one should be exciting folks.

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional

Congratulations to the green alliance for a well-deserved win at the Sacramento Regional this year. The alliance of 2489, 701 and 3189 had a great balance of firepower and defensive ability but you won the regional with teamwork and consistency.

I was personally very excited to see Circuit Breakers (our second pick for last year's regional win and a huge asset to the alliance) performing at such a high level. Your team has come a long way from last year. Work on getting that drive-train a little faster and you will be a serious threat at nationals.

I was also ecstatic to see team 701 win their first regional. It does not seem that long ago that Doug Green and team 701 ushered our team into the FIRST program. They were the epitome of Gracious Professionalism and helped us build our robot that first year when we were struggling to even put together a drive train. Since that time, our team has grown and achieved success beyond what I had ever imagined but we are eternally grateful to Doug and his team for giving us the inspiration and this win has been a long time coming for them.

Citrus Circuits would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the organizers of this year's event. We had a blast and it was a major roller-coaster for us. In case anyone is interested in our story, here is a quick re-cap of what happened with our team.

On Thursday, our new shooter ( redesigned from Madera) was not performing the way it had in the shop. By the end of the day, we had decided that the custom gearbox was geared too low and did not provide the necessary speed for a good shot. Two of our team members built a new gearbox overnight (they had it finished by around 3:00 a.m.). We did not have enough time to mount the gearbox Friday morning so we waited until there was a good hour an a half between matches which happened between our 4th and 5th matches. We did not have time to test it in the pit before our 5th match so we went out on the field anyway. Unfortunately the motors had been wired in opposition so the shooter didn't work in that match either. A quick trip to the practice field and we had it working like a charm so finally in our 6th match we were shooting well.

Things continued to go well for us throughout the remaining qualification matches and it was especially exciting to team up with 1662 in match 82 and post the high score of 162. We were thrilled to be selected by 1662 for the finals but, unfortunately, things did not continue to go well for us. Right before our first quarter-final match, we decided to grease the shooter gearbox. This caused our shooter to run slower and resulted in missing all of our autonomous shots. Then, in the second quarter-final, an ethernet cable (left on the robot after removing our camera) became lodged in the drivetrain and prevented us from driving effectively.

We were disappointed that we couldn't support 1662 as we would have liked but that's the way it goes sometimes. We learn from our mistakes.

Again, thanks to all the participants in this year's Sacramento regional. 1678 had a blast and we are very excited about nationals.

Several perennial NorCal contenders will also be flexing their bot muscles for the first time. Should be another great event.
Unfortunately 3970 won't be joining us at Davis this year.

Bummer. Serves me right for going off the TBA list instead of the official FIRST website.

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional

Congrats again to Team 2489, the Insomniacs, and Team 3189, the Circuit Breakers and thank you for selecting us to join your alliance. This was the first trip to the eliminations for 2489 and to lead the alliance to a regional win was spectacular. After the alliance picking was complete, our team began looking at our scouting data through 90 qualification matches. The alliance of 2489, 3189, and 701 all had average offensive scores in the top 5 of the regional! 3 of the top 5 offensive robots, end up on the same alliance? We ran predictions of all the possible elimination rounds, and the only alliance that had odds of beating us was the number one seed 1662, 1678, and 3256. Of course these odds are based off of averages during qualification, so understand that some of the teams got off to a slow start, but finished strong. There were some tough breaks for some serious contenders as well. 1678's shooter stopped working during quarterfinals, 971 had an issue during the semi's that left it disabled on the field (sorry we ran over your intake while trying to get back across the field - it wasn't intentional), 3256 getting a technical in the quarters. But luckily the consistency of our alliance prevailed. The alliance of 2489, 3189, and 701 was the smoothest operating alliance we have been a part of in my 13 years. They communicated so well with each other both on and off the field and impressed the heck out of me.

Congrats to Mark Edelman for the WFFA and for his team 2489 winning the regional. It is well deserved and long over due. You do so much for the FIRST community and we all thank you.

Congrats once again to 1868, the Space Cookies, for another well deserved RCA win.

Congrats to 4666, the RoboWolves, for winning the Rookie All Star. It is well deserved and I have no doubts that your team is on its way to becoming another Sacramento region powerhouse.

For my Team 701, thank you for a wonderful and memorable regional, to be a part of the winning alliance and winning Engineering Inspiration is incredible. You worked hard to get to this point and I am very proud of you.

Re: 2013 Sacramento Regional

Congratulations to all the teams that competed this weekend and especially those in the eliminations; usually the eliminations at Davis fall into a defensive showdown but I remember seeing scores of 80+ for each alliance in certain elimination matches as teams simply tried to overpower each other with offense. It made for some of the most interesting matches I've ever seen.

Additionally congratulations to the Space Cookies for winning the Regional Chairman's Award. They do so much and deserve to go all the way through to Championship, and I hope they do walk away with it. Good luck in St Louis!

Finally thank you to our GREEN ALLIANCE! I've never seen teams cheering for an alliance other than red or blue in the final. 2489, 3189, and 701 all bonded so well we were cheering together from the first quarterfinals matches and it just felt so special. Myself and many of the other alumni of team 701 were impressed by how our alliance handled itself and complemented itself. If one of us was missing shots or being blocked the others would step it up and put points on the board so we could succeed. It was a hard fought regional and I'm blessed to have been there to see our team win our first and second ever blue banners. It's been a long time coming for this team and was a really special day for those who've been involved for so long.

I have been rooting for 701 to get a Regioanl for 5 years now. I am estatic at having being able to participate in it when it finally came.

You are right Doug this was the most awesome alliance the any of my teams have been part of. Thank 701 and 2489. It was good.

Go Green Alliance.
