The raspberry pi is great. We at 2607 have already been testing with it for our 2013 season. The small little board can do some pretty useful stuff. Just because they dont give it to you doesnt mean its not great for a FRC robot

But I agree, all of the morals of the Raspberry Pi foundation and FIRST jive. It wouldnt surprise me. Infact, thier missions are pretty similar (Like the place that makes the Pi's is a foundation, not a Inc. or LLC)

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

This is one of the first puns/jokes/whatever that I've seen on CD that doesn't make me immediately facepalm.

Well done, good sir.

Re: 2013 ACTUAL game hint!!!

I like how this went from a game hint thread to a pi thread.

In all seriousness, I'm curious about what "A DINNER, MISSED/HOLDING WEIGHT" means.

One thought is that bucket of fish - maybe that means that one part of the game will be as easy as "shooting fish in a barrel (or, in this case, a bucket - even easier?". And by easy, I mean easy by FIRST standards - something every team can do and should do to earn some points.

The second part, if we want to take it literally, would mean holding a very heavy object - not so easy. Probably the endgame involving robots lifting each other or some other heavy thing.

The game hint rhymes, so maybe the game name will rhyme (it has before). Someone earlier (sorry for lack of quote) said "Seal the Deal". If this is the game name, perhaps one needs the endgame to "Seal" points that were earned during the "easy" part of the game.

Just my $0.02. This is my first go at even looking at game hints so... might be totally off the mark.

Re: 2013 ACTUAL game hint!!!

Other than these hints i have found some patterns in the FRC Game history. Take a look:
In the past 10 years the games have alternated in themes. Sports, Science, Sports, Science... look:
2012-Rebound Rumble: Sports (Basketball)
2011-Logomotion: Science (elevation challenge)
2010-Break Away:Sports (Soccer)
2009- Lunancy: Science (elevating challenge)
2008-FIRST Overdrive: Sports (relay race/track similarities)
2007- Rack 'N' Roll: Science (elevation challenge similar to 2011)
2006-Aim High: Sports (Basketball)
2005-Triple Play; Science (elevated score)
2004-FIRST FRENZY;Raising The Bar; Sports (Volleyball)
2003-Stack Attack: Science (stack things high)

SO i would expect we would have to get something scored in a high up goal, maybe on that was 3' high perhaps. and possibly circular.

Just to tell you guys, the Navy Seals now sponsor FIRST. Dean Kamen did have a meeting with them back in 2012 and have struck an agreement with them. Look it up on Youtube, i saw a video of most of the speech there. I will post a link later. I don't think the Navy Seal thing may be too far off.

If this is true, our Navy Seal guess seems plausible. We can all agree that the first two lines refers to the artist Seal, and his hit song "Kiss from a Rose". But the meaning of the second two lines is posing to be more of a challenge. I think this Navy Seal idea makes logical sense both in the context of the riddle and in the context of FIRST politics.

Also, I think the Pi cypher is very important. The Raspberry Pi has been gaining popularity over the past several months, and I think FIRST recognizes this. The KOP mentions a "Separate Idem" thats 4" x 1" x 1", and I think this could be the Pi.
