Simple CAD help
I am a freshman who is just learning Inventor, and I was wondering about
how to make in CAD a funnel with the tube and the floating circle. This is what I have so far: ![]() |

Try using the loft option. If it is anything like the lofted flang option available for working with sheetmetal, then it should do what you want. I'll experiment a little though, in case that doesn't work.

Alternatively, you can draw up the profile and just rotate it
Either way is just fine. |

It is simplest to use a revolve for that.
Draw a sketch like that and then do a revolve. Select the line on the bottom as your axis and you'll get a funnel shape. |

That is an option, though a loft of that nature with the existing geometry shown will give a solid cone on the end of the tube.
If however, you want your cone to be hollow as well, you can add an addtional circle in the middle of the existing one, in hopes that it creates the wall. If that does not work, it would not take long to do a Revolve Operation. In that case, simply draw and dimension the upper half of the wanted section view, draw the centerline, and apply the revolve feature. I was just teaching some of our kids how to do those two different strategies today actually! There are many youtube videos of Inventor and SolidWorks on youtube, and both may be helpful due to the similar nature of the two programs. I agree with the sketch > revolve work flow. Also, to hollow out the part, use the Loft command. Loft is high up on my coolest commands in Inventor list!
If you need further help, post me the dimensions and I can assist, although there is always a lot of great help from other teams on this forum. |

Going further, The same part, when added to a full design, refuses to go to where I want it to.
This is where I put it, and then I save it: ![]() Then when I save it, and then open up after closing it again, it just goes back to the original placement: ![]() |

Depending on the constraint, you need 1 to 3 constraints to secure one part to another.
Could you zoom in on the part and also open up any constraints you have on the part thats moving? |

Just do a loft then shell the whole thing.
