Here is my list of robots that scared the bijeebers(pronounced b-jeebers) out of me.

Hexagon Havoc: PSNH - Hexcaliber and Lockheed Sanders
Toroid Terror: Beatty Machine, Wildstang, Pontiac Northern,
Ladder Logic: Lebanon Robotics, Technokats,
Game 99: I was injured reserve. Can't name great teams.
Co-opertition: Viste-FEDS, Wildstang, HOT,

Others that I can't remember years (they seem to blend together):
International Fuel Cells, Buzz, Baxter Bomb Squad, HOT , TJ2, Wildstang, Clinton Nypro, C.H.A.O.S., Otis Elevator, 3-D Services.

I am sure there are many more but memory seems to be fading.

I actually will nominate two machines:

Drumroll.....

1. Motorola Wildstang
2. Beatty Machine

Mike,

You are too kind. But I don't think we really qualify since we have only won one event - Midwest regional last year, with your help. We have come in 2nd many times and have a streak going since the beginning of 1997 of having finished in the top 10 at every event that we have entered. So, you can say we are very consistent year after year. But in fact, we have not won much.

Every year since I've been in FIRST, I've been terrified and mystified by the incredible machines from the Chief Delphi camp, as well as those you mentioned =)

Can't leave the Chief out of the 'Terror' list =)

And just think; no one picked Juggy at the nationals. What were they thinking?!

Juggy probably also holds the record for most events entered in one year.

: I know that FIRST isn't just about winning, that everybody who participates is a winner...etc., but just for a minute I would like to look ONLY at the robot and make the record the ONLY criteria: what do you all think was the most successful robot in the history of FIRST? This kind of friendly debate goes on in sports all the time and there can be no winner (since we are comparing apples and oranges) but I would make the case for two machines: (Team #47)Chief Delphi #3 (back in '98) won 3 straight regionals, and this year's (Team #1)3-Dimensional Service and OTCNE's 'Juggy' won 4 tournaments, took second in 2 tournaments, and 3rd in another. What other nominations are out there?

They had a pretty busy year...

How about the 'most-played robot' rather than the 'winningest'.. who do you think could get that?

I don't mean this in a mean way, but we should not pick a number one robot because that is not what FIRST is about. FIRST is about making science and math exciting. You are going way of track trying to pick a number one robot. Why, should you care which robot is better.

Dominique,

you are totally correct. FIRST isn't about winning. I believe everyone knows that FIRST isn't about winning. It is about science and math being fun, it is about cooperation between student and engineers. But without competition and without these robots there would be no FIRST. The world is built on competition, whether in a sport or at work, competition is a big part of business. In business, just like FIRST, someone is the best or champion, the difference between Business and FIRST is that being the best is the main goal of business( also maximizing profit) where FIRST is to show kids what it is to be a engineer and it shows them how fun it can be. Plus it gives us a very good debatable subject to talk about
