Question Bumper Question

So we could not find any 2 1/2inch pool noodles, and we ended up getting some 3 1/2inch noodles. I know in the rules it says that the bumpers have to be two, 2 and 1/2 inch noodles stacked on each other.

So are going to have to go back out and search for 2 and 1/2 pool noodles, or can we just cut an inch off of the current 3 1/2 inch noodles and stack them on each other, as if they were originally 2 1/2 inches? Any help on the ruling for this? Any suggestions.

Re: Bumper Question

Rules are very specific on this - and Q&A responses have not allowed any wiggle room - I'd get the right ones if I were you.

I have actually found it rather easy to find them in North Carolina...I can't imagine Texas would be more difficult, but there's always Andymark:

Re: Bumper Question

Do you have a team near you that might have some extra ones that they could let you have? You could offer to replace what you need from them when you find some. I have found them in March here in Alabama at our local dollar tree.

The Dollar Tree ones I saw were only 2 1/4" diameter. It's not much of a difference, but it was noticeable, and it makes them unsuitable as FRC bumpers this year (and every year of mandatory bumpers so far).

R24 states that the noodles should be approximately 2.5" so maybe 2.25" noodles will be acceptable.

Re: Bumper Question

Mike,
2.5 inch is the spec. They are really available everywhere in the US. Northern states may have a hard time finding them this time of year. Teams outside the US will have a harder time. They may be speced in metric in your area so an equivalent to the 2.5 inch/6.3 cm is acceptable. I did a quick search and found an Amazon ad in the UK for these called "Happy Hot Tub Rosy Red Swimming Noodle".

Re: Bumper Question

Bumpers really do not need to be finished until your competition. So if you have to order them it would be okay.
