Pre-Ship Lessons Learned

By now, most of the pre-ship scrimmages have concluded (including the Rochester Rally, which I attended today). What have you learned from watching or competing in these events? Are you modifying your design from what you saw, are you changing your strategy?

Here are my personal notes from the Rochester Rally:
-Many teams didn't bother to floor load. Feeder station will be the most common method of retrieving discs.
-Despite the apparent size of the goals compared to the disc, it's really difficulty to consistently line up shots from the other side of the field.
-More teams than expected will try to make full court shots. Few will be consistently good at it, but don't be surprised to see the occasional full court ringer.
-Climbing to the top of the pyramid will be more rare than people think, despite its obvious advantage. Many teams that try for it will fail, or have great difficulty getting their robot in position to do it (I can remember 4 corner climbers at Rally, I don't think I saw one accomplish it. Mostly because they couldn't line up in the corner.

These are the ones that come to mind. Thoughts?

Re: Pre-Ship Lessons Learned

There's a fairly long thread already going about the lessons learned over here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...hreadid=113707

Nice to hear from the teams who made it to these!
