How many Teams in 2001?

I'm surprised Andy Grady or anyone else has not yet done the - Guess how many teams in 2001 'Question of the week'.

My guess is 480 total teams and 320 at Nationals (4 divisions of 80 teams each).

Well, since we're already knocking on 500's door in 2000 (Go team Chuba, team #491 from my hometown, Bridgeport, CT) I'd say 600 total teams, 350 at Nats (I'm being totally middle ground & taking the average of Raul's & Colleen's guesses, cause I agree)

Well, we may be up to team number 500 (I know there's at least a team 501 at this point) but a good portion of those are unused (i.e. there was no team 2, 3, or 4 last year). I believe that the team count last year was about 370 or so with about 270 at Nats but that's just off the top of my head.

I think the number 45 is pretty cool, so is 111.

I wonder when the team number that matches the year given will happen. My guess: the team number 2006 will be given out in the year 2006 (Oct.27,2006 to be precise).

Just call me Nostradamus (spelling?)

Ok, Gradys Law of National Robotic Growth has predicted the final number of teams for 2001...First you take the number 42 and put a 4 in front of it to make 442, then you add the total number of Coca-cola bottles i have devoured this year to make 576, multiply by avagadros number 6.022 x 10^23 to get 3.47 x 10^26, subtract the number of times I have said that stadium seating is the way to go, and you get a final number of 517 teams with a whopping 358 teams in florida. Hey, theres scientific proof!!!!
