GRT 192: 2013 Teaser

Team 192, the Gunn Robotics Team, is proud to present our entree in the FRC 2013 game, Ultimate Ascent.

http://youtu.be/29lovN-fHuY

Features:
  • Custom two-speed bevel-gear transmission completely designed and manufactured by students
  • External pickup capable of taking in both upside-down and rightside-up frisbees
  • Flipper ensures all discs enter the hopper in the correct orientation
  • Powerful shooter that can propel discs across the field, driven by a custom belt-reduction gearbox with two RS-775's
  • Rapid 10-pt hanger capable of lifting in less than a second

GRT 192 competed in the Lone Star Regional, and will participate in the Utah and Silicon Valley Regional.

Also, props to anyone who can identify where the song comes from!

Re: GRT 192: 2013 Teaser

Sounds like the soundtrack from Miracle.

Also, by external pickup, do you mean floor pickup? I didn't see much match video of you guys playing at Lone Star, and did not see you guys go for frisbees on the ground, so I'm curious.

It looks like a solid machine. Is the max speed you geared for really 17 ft/sec? (ref: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...66&postcount=7)

It seems like a high speed to gear to, and the videos at Lone Star don't seem to show you guys racing around at the speed I would expect from such an aggressively geared drive train (or maybe just don't show it adequately). How did it work out for you?

Love the "entree." I'll see you guys at SVR!

Re: GRT 192: 2013 Teaser

The external pick up referred to is part of a floor pick up that's outside frame perimeter to more aggressively pick up frisbees. Unfortunately the mechanism wasn't optimized at Lone Star so it was faster to go to the feeder station. We are making some changes and hopefully we'll be using it in Salt Lake City.

17ft/sec is theoretical speed not adjusted for speed loss. I don't know what matches you saw but on Saturday we were meeting more defense. We weren't able to use the full speed across the field as much as we were earlier on on Friday. By SVR our drivers will be nipping around the field
