Team 1218 Demonstrating Proper Battery Disposal Technique

Over the weekend at our district event we hosted, a team had a faulty battery charger and one of their batteries became severely overcharged overnight. With the watchful guidance of one of the great safety advisors, our mentor, Rob Ervin, and I (safety captain) used our battery spill kit to properly dispose of the battery. I just thought you may find some of these pictures interesting because this doesn't happen too often.

The first pic you can see how deformed the battery is, and how we have it in the plastic container and with the baking soda on it to neutralize any possible acid leakage.

The second pic you can see our mentor extraordinaire, Rob Ervin, demonstrating proper disposal technique with the rubber gloves and safety glasses.
