Re: Robot names and Team mottos
My team's unofficial motto is probably "Why the heck is this not working!?!"
for the robot name, we haven't officially named it, but someone named the cRIO "Marco" and I named the program "Polo" |

Re: Robot names and Team mottos
In 2011 our robot's name was "Nessie" because it kind of resembled the Loch-ness monster
2012 was the year of "Buzz LightGear" because of the buzzing noise its shooter made, and the large (but light) sheetmetal gear we used to turn the turret 2013 was named "Brodie" after the self proclaimed Frisbee Trick Shot Specialist We named several of our tools in the lab: for example, our deburring knives are Deborah, and Debbie (it is a sin to not know who is who), and our rubber mallet is called "the 12% mallet" because someone wrote "1296" on it in sharpie in such a way that the 96 looked like a % and our programmer mistook it. Our motto is simply "drive it like you stole it" |

Re: Robot names and Team mottos
This year we named our robot TigerLily( Tily for short ) because our mascot is a tiger and tiger Lilies are orange flowers that look like they have Tiger Stripes.
Quote from a student on why its a good name" Because the name symbols our beauty and how fierce we are in competition" |

Re: Robot names and Team mottos
Considering how our team leader moved to a different school last year... And none of our programming is working... Team #2603's current motto is:
"Nothing is working and we don't know why" |

Re: Robot names and Team mottos
The Robodox are "Engineering a Brighter Future".
Nearly all of our robot names have been doctors. We don't talk about 2007... 2014 - Anesthesiologist 2013 - Medic 2012 - Radiologist 2011 - Chiropractor (and the mini-bot "The Adjustment") 2010 - Cardiologist 2009 - Neurologist 2008 - Physician 2007 - <Default> 2006 - Dermatologist 2005 - Psychologist 2004 - Dentist 2003 - Therapist 2002 - Surgeon, M.D. 2001 - D.O.C.T.O.R I'm only slightly worried that we've named this year's robot after the person who puts you to sleep... - Mr. Van Coach, Robodox |

Re: Robot names and Team mottos
Our motto is "Created to Create".
Since we are a Christian school we have included a book of the Bible, usually referring to an aspect of build, in the robot name as well as an alternate nickname. Rookie Year (2013) - Genesis AKA Carl (Genesis refers to it being our first robot )2014 - "Leviticus AKA Leviathan" (Leviticus because several times we had to change our design because the rules didn't permit it and Leviticus is the book of the law ) |

Our robot doesn't have an official name right now, but our shooter mechanism is called "Nemo's Flipper."
Our KOP bot is referred to as "The Ankle Biter." |

Re: Robot names and Team mottos
Team 2408's robot's name this year is b.O.s.s. (Big Ol' Sphere Slinger). Unfortunately, we weren't able to vote on a name this year.
Personally, I hate to say it, but the name sounds too generic to me. Oh well, rather not waste time on names. |

Re: Robot names and Team mottos
Team 716 The Who'sCTEKS. We are based out of Housatonic Valley Regional High School.
Housatonic = Who'sCTEKS We have a question mark on our shirts. Housatonic = Who'sCTEKS = ? (see what we did there) Our robot name is. Questionable Solution? And our motto is "Be The Frog". Listen why. Picture if you will a bird. A Great Heron as a matter of fact. And a frog. The Great Heron is higher up on the food chain than the frog. The Great Heron you could say is similar to the larger teams in FIRST, always on top of their game. Our team is small, we are the frog. So here is the visual, the Great Heron tries to eat the frog head first but the frog takes his two front arms and grabs the Great Heron buy the throat hence denying him of his meal else he dies trying to swallow the frog. The frog Never EVER gives up. "Be The Frog" Choke on that. Lol ![]() |

Re: Robot names and Team mottos
Since our strategy this year was called secret sauce, we wanted robot names that were condiment-based.
Competition robot: Hot Sauce Practice robot: Not Sauce We had trouble coming up with an official motto for this year, so one of the students just said, "Robots, amirite?" and it stuck. |

Re: Robot names and Team mottos
Sorry if someone else from my team has already posted!
This year we tried to have a poll/vote for our robots name, and most of them were so outrageous they weren't even counted. We decided on Sonic the Hedgebot (affectionately called Hoodgeboodge) due to its speed and blue "spikes" (which were later made shorter) when one of our mentors noted it. Which is why almost all our videos this year included music from the Sonic games. I don't think we have an official team motto, besides "Robots From The Grove", but we do have a lot of catchphrases. |
