position of components on robot

I was wondering if something like a shooter can stick out of the bumper perimeter during TELE-OP when the robot is not touching the pyramid. This information would really help because designing a holonomic drive system would be a lot easier if it was a square (for the programmer's sake).

Per the 2013 rules, the robot, bumpers included, has to fit inside a 54" diameter cylinder during the match. (Starting position is 112" frame perimeter.) Extensions beyond the frame perimeter are not banned, unless they cause the robot to violate the 54" cylinder.

Now, having a shooter be out that far may not be the wisest thing in the world--it'll probably take a bit of a pounding due to the contact--but if a team does that, it's on them to protect it.

Eric is correct.

We have dumping and climbing mechanisms that start the match inside the frame perimeter, but are released first thing in auto, and stay outside the perimeter for the rest of the match.

The only size restrictions on your robot size are that everything must be inside the frame perimeter at the beginning of the match and must stay within a 54" wide, 84" tall cylinder during the match.

Here's a picture of our bot, both the shooter and the ground intake begin the match inside the frame perimeter and flip down at the beginning of the match.

I think having the programming more complex is better than the possibility of a damaged shooter

(I am designing a 30 point climber and new drive base for CalGames)
