Re: Championship Matches from the Catwalk 2013
A couple more videos from the Catwalk
![]() Galileo Match 88 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2WQlyU65vA Pretty Certain this is another Match 90 on Newton: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJVGTyXQol4 This one is Archimedes, but I don't know which match... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyu50EQYFbo I also have a bunch of catwalk photos of teams & people in my photoset. I have more coming, but I need some more editing time, so I only have the preview posted so far ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/kimsrob...7633424708682/ It was an amazing opportunity to get up there and see things from a whole new perspective. I was absolutely amazed at how slow the frisbees from the full court shooters appeared to be from above!! Craziness!! |

I'm starting to think that I'm the only person on the planet that loved Lunacy.

Lunacy was a great game behind the glass but an awful game to watch.

In retrospect (they say it takes twenty years to write history) I like it more than I thought I did. Here's why: The white regolith from the catwalk made for very cool photos. It made the competition pictures look like reverse images. The game theory, where the goal was attached to your butt and close proximity made for vulnerability, was very high level. (though it made for many circle matches that looked like two dogs chasing each others tails) Check it out. Last edited by MooreteP : 09-05-2013 at 05:57. |

Re: Championship Matches from the Catwalk 2013
Now that I think of it Lunacy would have been a great game if they didn't use Regolith as the flooring.
Imagine how crazy some of the pushing matches or collisions would have been if there were robots running around the field at 14ft/s. I bet half of the robots wouldnt be square anymore... They'd all be parallelograms... |

The view from the catwalk looks awesome! (I'm weird. I like heights, often more than I like the ground.) Also entertaining to me: being able to identify not only Alistair (our robot) from that height (he was rather distinctive, wouldn't you say?), but our drive team (they're the ones whose heads are lit up. We had fun with LEDs this year, and plan to do more with them in the future). (Parentheses are awesome.) |
