PID Loop
Could anyone provide us with an 8-inch PID loop?
I always here about how awesome PID loops are and was hoping someone could help us obtain one ![]() (Don't get mad, just joking around ) |

Re: PID Loop
I think an 8 inch PID loop will be more than the $400 limit per part.

Don't forget about the perimeter rule.

Re: PID Loop
I don't think they have PID loop in that size. Try using a PI loop, I heard it's a lot cheaper when they remove the derivative.

Re: PID Loop
Maybe try an 8 dB wide PID loop.

Re: PID Loop
I can loan you a 20 centimeter PD loop, if that's any good.

Re: PID Loop
The one I attached is a bit wide, but maybe you can tweak the DPI.

Re: PID Loop
I wish I could even understand how a PID loop works! Someone tried explaining it to me but I still don't understand...
Also, is it just something for LabView, or does it work in other languages as well (in particular, Arduino Sketch)? |

Re: PID Loop
PID is not a LabVIEW thing. It is a robust control algorithm that uses several mathematical terms based on proportional response, longer-term error accumulation, and how the current error compares to previous values.
LV does have an example called General PID Simulator that may be helpful to experiment with. It has a parameterized plant that allows you to model real-world elements and practice tuning them. But the model portion is pretty academic and not that approachable. Still, it allows you to experiment with typical tuning issues and identify the symptoms in the chart. Greg McKaskle |

As for Arduino Sketch, I think you should be able to, because it is just a bunch of math, but I do not know what google sketch is nor am I a programmer, so you might want to take my word with a grain of salt. ![]() |
