Total newbie to the Chairman's Award

I have a feeling that next year I will be put in charge of my team's Chairman's Award submission. I have no clue as to what to do. None at all. I basically know what it's all about but hope that someone would be willing to explain it to me (OK..I admit it..I don't listen well).

Our team will be in it's fifth year next season and has never before done a Chairman's Award submission. I'm totally clueless as to what to include in it.

Should a team like mine, which still has very few members, doesn't really have any strong ties to other teams, and has not started other teams even bother creating a submission?

(Note to my team members: I know that I'm soon to be skinned alive for saying that on here, no matter how true it is. Sorry.)

Any help anyone could offer me would be wonderful. Just be patient with me. Like I said..I'm a total newbie to this whole Chairman's Award thing..

I would say that it's a good idea to create the award submission even if you don't think you'd win. You know why? For the same reason we all build the robots. I highly doubt any of us expect to be national champions in any given year (we may wish it, but don't expect it). I think however that you can learn a lot from creating the presentation and at the same time learn a lot about your team. It'd be much easier to tell what your team can improve on when you already know what you do. I guess I should preface this by saying I've never been on a team that's submitted a Chairman's Award but we plan to next year (well, we planned to this year but there weren't enough people to do it).

the rambots were rookies last year and we made a submission. were were gonna make one this year but never got around to it

the rambots have few members, minimal ties with other teams (except through cd) hasnt created new teams, barely has enough funding to make the bot, doenst have any college support anymore, no sponcors to speak of, no access to machine shop anymore...and weve made them, so i guess what im trying to say is that theres no reason not to make one

Well.....

I think the act of creating a chairmans submission is necessary, especially for newbies. Other than doing presentations, I find no better way to create such an interdisciplinary project, no matter whether you submit it or not.

As for expecting to win...eeh. Go check out the poll.
