I can't wait to see two teams that cant shoot, play defense against each other in the semi finals. It is awesome that this is being broadcast again this year.

Re: MSC - TV Broadcast - 1 Hour TV Special

So,
I really like th re-tune of the footage that they did betweent he Webcast and the broad cast.
I also really like the 2054 interview. If you really like building the mechanical side of robotics, 2054 makes a good case for you to become a farm boy working for John Deere or CAT or .... I am anxiously awaiting the robot designed after a corn harvestor, or maybe a drainage tile installer.

A huge thank you to Dan and Dave for their excellent commentary. I thought they did a great job with balanced coverage, insight, and entertainment.

Re: MSC - TV Broadcast - 1 Hour TV Special

I agree, the webcast, and the broadcast are what I would call the gold standard. One of the things that makes me so proud to play in Michigan! (even if all but 3 or 4 seconds of footage ends up on the cutting room floor.)

Still way cool, and an inspiration to see it on TV!

The Detroit PBS coverage of MSC is awesome. Dan and Dave were great and having the production like professional sports is great. I am only disappointed in that it does not air outside the Detroit area and other areas have to watch it online. I think it could do a lot for FIRST if it got airtime in other PBS station areas but I don't know if they have access to it or would choose to air it.

I liked the interviews with the various teams as well. I learned things from the commentary and interviews that I would have never known from just being there. At the events I tend to have "tunnel vision" and find it difficult to see much more than just what our team and robot is doing when we are playing. With this I can see more what happened on the whole field and behind the scenes.

I am glad you liked our segment Ike. We are trying to build more awareness of STEM and FIRST in our area and being successful in the competitions and getting publicity makes that a little easier. Hopkins is like most communities and people always support local football or basketball teams but a non-athletic team is more difficult. We had a little easier time than some schools I have read about on CD as our FFA has been a state and national contender for quite a few years and has "paved the way" for more academic teams or clubs. Their success is a source of school and community pride and I believe inspires more students into college and rewarding careers than athletics. We are trying to do the same.
