Kit Frame Material

Does anyone know what the kit frame (AM14U) is made of? It looks like aluminum of some sort, but what series? We are considering welding to it, and some info would be a help.

This is a good question.

The side plates are 5052 Aluminum. The Cross Brace and Churro are 6005A Aluminum.

Here is a link to the pages for the AM14U parts.

Sincerely,
Andy Baker

If I remember correctly they used to be called Hex Tubes or something on the AndyMark site; I'm hearing Churro Tube for the first time this year.

Andy, your website still lists the Churro as 6063, did you change them or were they always 6005A?

Allen,

Good question and excellent catch. The website is wrong, and the correct alloy for these churros is 6005A. The website is now correct.

Sincerely,
Andy
