Window Motor Gears?

We want to use a window motor we received through FirstCHOICE and we don't know where to find gearing or way to attach a hex shaft to the output-drive gear.

Any leads or tips would be appreciated

Re: Window Motor Gears?

FIRST Choice had couplers that interfaced with the Denso window motors and could be used either as a hub or a round keyed shaft 5/8" diameter:

However, they are sold out so I've been 3D printing them for my team to give us the output coupling we need (including hex output as necessary).

Re: Window Motor Gears?

I think, I don't have one to check, but I am pretty sure the metal shaft in the middle (if you remove all that plastic) is a 8mm keyed shaft. This would make it identical to a CIM.

If I am not mistaken, and I am pretty sure I am correct, then you can use this hub from AndyMark to interface with the motor

EDIT: Post #2 of this thread from 2011 seems to confirm my thoughts, as the window motors have not changed since then

If you have a 3D Printer, this could work:

Depending on the motor, that shaft may or may not turn. Beware, and observe first.

We got burned by this while working on an off-seasons project. The metal shaft in the center was just an idler, and the plastic piece was being driven by a gear at the base of the gearbox. Live and learn...

Re: Window Motor Gears?

Also, be aware that window motors have a thermal trip in them to prevent overheating. If you are running it near stall for an extended period of time and it stops working, it may have to cool down a bit.
