Re: FIRST Canada Webinar - Karthik, Justin & Mike tonight at 7pm
Given that the 1712 meeting for tonight has been snowed out, I'll do my best to "attend."
A few potential topics off the top of my head: *Defense in Aerial Assist *Lack of emphasis on passing mechanisms in Build Blitz *Alliance construction in Aerial Assist *Autonomous in Aerial Assist (added risk of missed shots, achievable lower goals, role of goaltenders, connections with tele-operated defense) |

Re: FIRST Canada Webinar - Karthik, Justin & Mike tonight at 7pm
Karthik, you talked about the difference between assists and "assist opportunities" in regards to scouting. You defined an assist opportunity as a situation where robot X facilitates an assist to robot Y, but robot Y never scored the ball in a goal, therefore garnering no assist points. Would you value this situation any less than a normal assist that robot X facilitated, that ultimately ended in assist points being gained for the alliance?

I also think it'd be useful to track "assists (received)" vs "assists (initiated)"... a robot that is good at initiating an assist may (or may not) have a unique set of skills from a robot that is good at receiving an assist. Because of this, it'd be helpful in pre-match strategy and alliance selection to know which robots are good at which. I think I would even go so far as to tally multiple assists for a robot that does multiple "assists" in one cycle... i.e. Robot X passes to Robot Y, and then Robot Y passes back to Robot X. Karthik's distinction is a good one to make... I haven't really thought much about scouting so far! Last edited by Nathan Streeter : 22-01-2014 at 21:50. |

Karthik needs to stop wearing a zippered hoodie when he is on a webinar. The constant clicking is annoying!

Re: FIRST Canada Webinar - Karthik, Justin & Mike tonight at 7pm
Thank you to everyone who listened in to the webinar. It was a terrific success and very informative. Karthik puts a lot of thinking into all aspects of the game. And of course the show was even more successful with the addition of Mike and Justin! Great job everyone. In two weeks we will host another webinar with a focus on inspection, new game strategies and perhaps final tips by teams who have running robots!
All this and more, right here in Canada! psst: week one has two of the three world champion alliances at the same event! GTRWest at Crescent(1241 and 610) where are you 1477?, then GTREast at UOIT, then...drum roll please...Waterloo Water, water, water... ![]() North Bay then Windsor |
