Re: Team UPDATE 1-21-2014

Hi CD,
I'm on a second-year team and this year is the first time we're using pneumatics. We picked up a few 24V solenoids from FIRST CHOICE this year, but I'm quite confused as to their legality while reading the rules. Some parts of the rules state that the solenoid breakout and C-RIO can be powered via the 24V power output on the PD board, and the chart in the recent manual update says no more than 12C can be used for solenoids. I would really appreciate if someone could clarify this so that we don't run into any trouble later on in the season. Thanks

The 12 volt restriction is only on electrical solenoids, not pneumatic solenoids. the pneumatic solenoids are the ones that control your pneumatics. Electrical solenoids in the context of the rules, are solenoids that actuate something through a magnetic field, not counting approved solenoids that regulate the flow of air in the pnuematic systems.
