Does anyone out there know who won the past six years Chairman's Award?? I was kinda wondering what they did, to get some ideas for our teams Chairman's Award.

You can find the winners of the chairman's award since 1995 through the FIRST history page. Note that before 1998, the team numbers changed every year and were not very important, so FIRST did not list them with the lists of winners.

I never knew that they switched numbers around year by year before 1995. Hummm........I guess it is true you learn something new each day!!

I've recently also tried to look at past entries that have won the chairmans award, but unfortunately I've found that most teams do not extensively document their entry on their website. I've only been involved with FIRST for the past year, but from my understanding the past few years have shown a trend of the FIRST judges recognizing teams that have started a large number of other FIRST teams in neighboring high schools.

However, this year there have been both some rule changes and some content changes for Chairmans. I belive that some of these changes could significantly affect what this year's regional and national winners will look like.

Past winners have contributed to the growth of the FIRST family with starting and mentoring new teams and also starting a growth of new Lego League teams.


This year promises that our minds will be put to the test when constructing our Chairman's Award entery. I think that everyone will come up with their own unique way of showing that their team is a model team for other FIRST teams......new and old.

So, are there archives of the Chairman Award winning entries anywhere?

There are a list of winners on the FIRST website, but after that you have to contact the team to see if they have a copy of thier teams Award winning Chairman's Award. At least that is what I am in the works of doing!!
