Chief Delphi Native iOS App

Hey Chief Community,

Below is a simple explanation of the capabilities of the app so far. You can download the app here:
App Store
Chrome Extension

Website

In order to teach myself the ins and outs of developing mobile apps I have spent the last month or so working on the first iteration of a Chief Delphi App. The main feature of the app is being able to view the most recent Chief Delphi posts in an easy, native, and intuitive way. Then by clicking on the thread you will be brought to the thread with all its html wonderfulness - including gifs - (something that gets lost in the Tapatalk version) and if you are so inclined are able to reply by signing into Chief Delphi.

The second view, represented by the trophy, is being able to view all the regionals that are going to be taking place in 2014 (as well as last years games) and being kept up to date on the schedule, the rankings, and a really neat feature of being able to add notes about each robot competing at the event. This could have the potential to crowdsource a lot of qualitative scouting, as well as photo sharing from the event.

The third view, represented by the world icon, acts as a social network aggregator for the hashtag #omgrobots. The social community of first has grown so much in the past few years and there is new content being uploaded every day that this creates a cool little hub that allows you to view the accomplishments of other teams in real time.

And the last view, which can definitely be built out more, is the direct access to Frank’s Blog. While all they are now is links (Apple rejected my app when they saw that it accepted charity donations from the links on the us first website) they can easily be changed back into web views, with push notifications whenever Frank Blogs.

I see many ways to build this out, and I also see it being a great tool for when competition season comes around. Don’t be too harsh - I’m still learning. (After all if you’re looking for some great work - take a look at some of the amazing work a few students from Team 610 have been working on. If thats not enough, take a look at what some 610 alumni are working on out in San Francisco right now!)

Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

George

P.S. There's already a new iteration waiting to be approved in the appstore...
P.P.S. - If you are looking at a table view for the first time, use the scroll down to update gesture to initiate a request - I used this design paradigm throughout this app.
