Re: pic: 2014 CyberDrive
For our 2014 robot we needed a single speed gearbox that would allow a 2 CIM input and also be low profile.
We created this "semi-custom" design by mirroring the AM Nano single motor gearbox.
By using this design instead of one of the COTS gearboxes available, we were able to:
Keep a low profile (gearbox is 1-1/2" deep and 3" Tall)
Use COTS gearing (AM standard gears)
Direct Drive a 4" wheel
We added the top windows to allow assembly, and the beveled ends of the box itself allowed for a solid, bolted connection to our chassis.
The final design is a 5.95:1 and gives us about a 15 FPS robot speed with 4" performance wheels.
