Most common inspection related violations

Besides bumpers, which will have the most inspection issues by a significant margin, what do you think will cause the most issues during the inspection process?

I'm going with pneumatics, because pneumatic catapults seem to be popular this year and the pneumatic rules are still fairly restrictive (and, to be honest, archaic).

I'm going to go with safety violations. Lots of teams don't think about protecting their various fingers and toes from the various elements of the robots.

#2? The 20" limit. I've already seen one video where a team clearly violates it. It's not terribly difficult to violate (though if you're smart with your hard stops, it's easy NOT to violate it).

I wouldn't call the pneumatics rules archaic. They're there to protect rookies from possibly making a dangerous situation. Though they are limiting.

I think the biggest violation we'll see is extending into an opponent's frame perimeter. Los of collectors sticking 20" out on the scrimmage field yesterday.

As an inspector, the violation I see most often (probably more often than bumper issues) is sort of 'boring' but it is sharp edges-- Either from cut metal/lexan or also very common, shortly clipped zipties (but not short enough)

Of course, most of these are easy to fix.

Battery issues are also a big one -- ones that can fall out, and ones that don't have terminals insulated.

As an inspector I will probably see the afore mentioned violations along with:
The wrong wire gauge used.
The wrong color wire.
Camera or cRio not isolated from frame.
Illegal motors
Over weight/under weight
Spinning wheels not properly shielded
Sharp edges to deflate balls

After last year, I'm going with frame perimeter. Now that teams don't have to fit in a sizing box, a lot of them are building right up to the limit to maximize internal volume. When they do that, they typically end up at least 1/4" over the frame perimeter limit.

Indirectly, I suppose :-) If your robot weighs less than the combined weight of:

Power Distribution board
4-slot cRio + breakout board
Ribbon cable
Digital sidecar
Blinky light
Radio
Radio power converter
a few other things like wire, connectors, etc.

Then you are underweight :-)

I'd have to say, the wheels are not explicitly required to be shielded (are they?). That said, we shielded our wheels.

Being lead que having teams get to the field is very important. And they have to pass inspection to be allowed to play. It always seem the one thing that keeps team from the field is issues with properly designed bumpers.

At Hub City last year (our 1st regional) we had no guard on our shooter wheel.

At Dallas (our second regional) they made everyone with an unshielded wheel put some type of guard around them.

Guards were not explicitly required in the rules last year either, but it very well could be as high speed wheels are a safety hazard.

In testing last year the tread came of our HT wheel we used to shoot the frisbees. The tread swung around and did a catastrophic amount of damage to our .08 aluminum shooter body (and completely snapped the MiniCIM shaft off)

I'm betting on overweight. Lots of teams will be bringing in 45lbs of stuff to add and the total weight will creep up.
