Drill motor copper electrical connector
Posted by Patrick Dingle at 2/16/2001 12:26 AM EST
Coach on team #639, Red B^2, from Ithaca High School and Cornell University. Today at some point one of our drill motor electrical connectors fell off... We had the wire shrink-wrapped and soldered on, but the copper ripped where the hole was in the middle, giving us only a few millimeters of copper sticking out of the motor. Anyone have any suggestions? We have no spares. Thanks Patrick |

We just soldered the wire back onto the remaining tab. What you should do to prevent breaking is to bend the wire so it lays against the motor casing. Tie-wrap the wire to the motor. This will reduce the possibility for undue stress on the motor tabs from the large moment arm of the wire. |
