Programming over Android
With the release of Android x86 really coming into it's own, and having a number of towers donated to us this year with the latest and greatest version of XP running on them, I was wondering if there might be a way to try and combine the two into something useful, as I know that Java Development for FRC can be done outside of Windows, as opposed to LabVIEW, and Android is somewhat of the new hotness when it comes to coding and application development. Would it be worth looking into as a sort of a fun experiment in exploration to program and control the robot in an otherwise mobile environment, or am I just looking for trouble playing with unfinished toys?

Re: Programming over Android
Why not use some popular desktop Linux?
From experience in bringing up Android device trees, if your hardware is not officially supported by AOSP, you are unlikely to get it booting. My impression is that Android x86 support is limited to a very specific set of relatively recent Intel-powered devices. |
