One of the things I have enjoyed about the district system is the sense of community and personal connections resulting from having more events. Having mentioned this to others this season, it seems like this is a somewhat common feeling.

At the MAR DCMP this weekend I asked Mr. O'Brien about the creation of a MAR Alumni network. He said it was something they had thought about, but nothing official has happened yet. In the meantime, since I didn't see anything like this already, we decided to create a MAR Student/Alumni group on Facebook. Here's the link:

All students on MAR teams, past or present, are welcome and invited to join. Started last night, we're already up to 81 members!

Myself and a few other MAR alumni actually had a sit-down meeting with Mr. O'Brien during the 'Volunteer Replenishment Time' break at MAR Champs this past Friday, where we talked about what could be improved in MAR. Funny enough, this wasn't one of the topics, but I love the idea! Honestly I find it hard to believe that no one thought about making one earlier! Thanks, Domenic!

The MAR Alumni are the future life blood of MAR and FIRST. Just Look around and you'll see that mentor and volunteer pool are greying. As an organization MAR needs some young energetic people to keep us fresh. I would love to see some of my ex students come on board.
