Tigerbolt IV

Posted by Matt Leese at 02/21/2001 8:18 PM EST

Other on team #73, Tigerbolt, from Edison Technical HS and Alstom & Fiber Technologies & RIT.

Well, given that the robot is finally gone and is mostly done I figured I'd share a picture of it with everyone. We sort of went out on a limb this year and we can only handle little balls (and pull the goal), but uniquely we shoot the balls into the goal. Yes, it works fairly accurately (if our batteries are powered and we're attached to the goal we have about 80-90% accuracy on a good day). Any comments or questions are appreciated. :-D

Matt who's really glad that the robot is in a crate and on the way to NJ

I don't know about everyone else, but I think that this is a very cool idea. How fast can your robot collect and then shoot small balls? This well definitely be an advantage since no team so far that I know of has focused on this aspect of the game. Can't wait to see you guys at Midatlantic.

As a witness to Tigerbolt IV's abilities I will be the first to say that this is one very cool idea. When I saw it gulping up the small balls, all I could think of was, "What's next?" and then fwomp! The ball is in the goal. A very unique idea. You guys did a great job.

I remember watching a robot in '97 that shot inner tubes and it was one of my favorite robots, even though it didn't seem to be very accurate. I can't wait to see the Tigerbolt IV in action!
