=========STRATEGY PROBLEM #3==========

Posted by Anton Abaya at 02/22/2001 2:59 PM EST

Coach on team #419, Rambots, from UMass Boston / BC High and NONE AT THE MOMENT! .

Robots A, B, C, and D.

A limbos, can balance 2 goals.

B picks up balls but needs the bridge. Arm can be used to lower bridge.

C limbos and has an arm for balls and can be used to push 1 goal on the bridge. Arm can be used to lower bridge.

D can also balance 2 goals but needs the bridge.

No ramp robots, so see-saw effect is eminent.

Have D just go to the endzone. D takes the bridge first. B lowers the bridge, and goes over to the endzone.

C goes to the other side. A pushes the near goal to the Alliance Station, and goes to the other side. C puts a big ball on far goal, and hits the endzone. A grabs far goal, crosses the bridge, grabs near goal, and balances.

If done in under a minute, and saying that the human players get in 15 balls, that's a score of 550 for A, B, & D, and a score of 605 for C

Again...exact same strategy. This time, put D on the stretcher.

C goes straight for limbo to grab big ball while A grabs D on the stretcher. B pushes goal back to alliance station.
A pulls stretcher over bridge first. B pushes ramp down, goes over and hangs around by ramp. After all this time has passed, C should be ready to cross over bridge again w/big ball. C crosses over and B (being on the far side) pushes ramp back down to far side and then heads for a big ball. While C is dumping big ball into near goal, A should have dropped off the stretcher and hooked onto the far goal. (B had pushed the bridge to the far side) A then comes over the bridge back to the near side. During this transition, C should have deposited the big ball and headed for the limbo to endzone. A grabs the two goals and takes time to balance...enough time, in fact for B to grab a big ball and position it to be placed on the "far" goal after it is balanced.

This is a little different from the previous two scenarios, but it works. Being a little more complex, I think the 450 score is more likely here.

10+10+10+10+10+10+15=75
75*4=300
300*1.5=450

I do think though, that this is very accomplishable in 1:45.

Just my personal thoughts...

Chris, #368
