Practice Rounds

Other on team #459, Rampage, from University of Florida/Eastside High School and .

So, I was sitting here thinking about things, and I thought of something (imagine that!). How do you guys think the practice rounds are gonna be like at the various events. I mean, think about it, lets say FIRST puts 4 teams on the field at a time, like normal, but 3 of those four robots balances 2 goals, or tries to. So, when it comes time for the practice round, are all those teams going to fight over who actually gets to use the two goals? Also, Imagine one robot is doing something on the bridge, while another robot needs to get over to the other side of the playing field, wel, if they are not a limbo bot, they are out of luck, and will just have to wait, or send people out to move the robot over the barrier. Am I wrong here?

Jason
P.S. At FIRSTROBOTICS.net, there are a total of 58 robots on there already. This is more than 10% of the teams this year, and the final ship date for everyone was only yesterday. You can tell this year isn't as competitive already.

I've thought of this as well. I think teams will need to somehow divide up the practice session in terms of working with the goals. When we have our practice sessions, I'll probably talk to the other teams to see if we can divide the round up into 4 2.5 minute segments. We'll see how this works.

Jason,

You guys have an awesome gallery on your site (again). It pops up the pictures so quickly, it is a pleasure to view them.

Here is an informal way of doing it, of course getting it across to other teams is the difficult part. Each team could get 2 minutes to strut their stuff and may ask other teams on the field for help on various aspects. Another way of doing it could be to just run some mock rounds, prepare with teams beforehand and see how it goes. Either way, its gonna be interesting.
Good Luck,
Andy Grady
