Robot Crates at the CMP

I found myself in the Pits on Wednesday morning before the action began.

http://imgur.com/a/v9TcU

Thought of maybe having a contest or poll about which Robot Crates people found most appealing.....but TMW, still recovering from this wonder filled season.

So, if you don't mind perusing the pics (some dupes, some blurry)
Pick your five favorite crates, and your favorite rookie (>4900)
Or just enjoy another creative aspect of all of our fol-de-rol.

The team 1640 crate (blue with the handprints on it) is from 2010. The hand prints are from team members. Had you go to the side, you would have seen the famous "Hope is not an engineering strategy"

And it was easy to pick out Rolling Thunder (1511) camo-crate!

Well obviously the first one is the best (sarcasm). I think it needs some LEDs though, any idea about the legality of that?

Thank you for the compliment. Before Champs we had some team members refinish one side of the crate with our tenth anniversary logo which you can see on the left side of the crate. I can't tell you how many compliments I received for my camo face paint at champs.

My personal favorite is Waffle's Crate. It's just so... delicious.

The rest of my top 5 (in no particular order) is The Children Swamp's Crate, Makeshift's Crate, Exploding Bacon's Crate and D-Bug's Crate. They all embody their team logo in an aesthetically pleasing manner in my opinion.

Re: Robot Crates at the CMP

I find 1714's crate to be humorous due to their lack of metal and heavy use of plastics on their robots.

Re: Robot Crates at the CMP

Behind the obvious superior first crate in the album, 987, 4499, 4476, 3937, 67, 126, 1687, 1592, 1986, 811, 910, and 254 had the best looking crates imo. Maybe just because they look newer/less junky lol, although some were very well designed (4476)

Re: Robot Crates at the CMP

I don't know why, but the 111 crate looks familiar...

I like the Poof's crate, it stands out, especially with their logo
Winnovation's crate is slick, orange/black tie-die with their logo

Re: Robot Crates at the CMP

The robot crate is a lost art lost in the switch to bagging. Team's used to do some incredible things with their crates back in the day. You can't converI a bag into a pit.
love Waffle's crate.

Re: Robot Crates at the CMP

Team 2444 used one of our old crates.
We told them to cover up our 359 number so that the shippers wouldnt confuse it with ours.
Looks like they did a nice job and listened.

Re: Robot Crates at the CMP

254 and 2175 (the calculator) had really nice crates. Also, the really blurry one with Party Goat as well as team 25.
And of course, the Companion Cube.

Re: Robot Crates at the CMP

A great collection!

I look more for cool paint and theme rather than a cool crate (aka made of fancy materials).

I have a special biased love of our crate (1511) for the camo and the 10th anniversary logo. And for Rookie Team 4930 who packed their robot in the traveling Finger Lake Regional Rookie All-Star Crate. It was built to be used each year by the new FLR Rookie All-Star and has a list of all of the Regional RAS winners painted on the inside of the door.

My other favorite paint jobs! 4707, 4488 (WAFFLE!), 1592 (Bionic Tigers), 1640 (Sab-BOT-age), 2283 (Panteras), 25 (I love the turtle!) and 1902 (Exploding Bacon).

Love the Waffle crate! And I think 179's is cool too - swampthing inside, DO NOT FEED!

Also, how long have some older teams had their crates? Just curious.
