First, sorry for my original reply, that was pretty careless of me.

To address the question, 1625 winnovation and 2451 pwnage have a habit of winding up together at Midwest.

Re: Successful Team Ups By State

This year 2485 and 987 paired up at one of the Cali regionals and Vegas if I remember right. Then they won Vegas.

As for Arizona, two of the big powerhouse teams here from year-to-year are 2486 and 842. This year they paired up and kicked butt at Phoenix.

Re: Successful Team Ups By State

20 and 195

Though these two teams are not from the same state, they've had some good luck together in recent years at the CT Regional. They won together in 2012 and 2013. And plus, 20 almost always came to CT, so it's close enough. They also teamed up this year at Champs.

Re: Successful Team Ups By State

Florida off-season would be 233 and 744. If I remember correctly, we've teamed up in '07, '08, '11, '12, '13 and won three of them. Keep in mind that there was (basically) no off-season in Florida in '10 and I believe '09 was wiped from 233's memory

Yes, we paired up at San Diego and made the finals, then won the Las Vegas regional together.

Successful rivalry seems to be our fate. We are friends and usually meet the last weekend of each build season at 2771's (Code Red Grandville) practice field at their open house which gives West Michigan teams a chance to test their robots and see the local teams and robots that come there. The "Gears" are a very good team that always field a good robot and strategy but we haven't ended up on the same side of the field in eliminations due to a lot of factors but there is always hope for next season!!!

Re: Successful Team Ups By State

The same teams pairing up successfully several times is pretty rare. It happens less than it seems to, because even if two teams are "above the pack" at an event, they're still more likely than not to be on different alliances. Look at all the factors in play for your question: the two teams have to be in the same state, really good not only over a long period of time but also particularly good in the same years, going to many events, and going to many of the same events, and they need quite a bit of luck.

As a result, there are only 6 pairings that have more than 3 event wins (including cmp & division wins separately). 16 more pairings had 3 wins. The rarity is what makes the 1114/2056 partnership so special; there's nothing even remotely like it.

Code:
Team 1	Team 2	Wins
1114	2056	14
67	469	5
254	971	5
1114	1503	5
179	233	4
217	469	4
Interestingly, all these pairings are teams in the same state/province. A few of the 3-win pairings were teams across borders, including 16/148 and 341/2590, or even across a country, like 111/254.

Thanks for compiling this. This is something I'd love to see on TBA Insight page. I'm still hoping someone will take my idea of mutli-team searching and make it happen. I think it would be really cool to be able to simultaneously search multiple teams on TBA and see all instances that they were in the same match (either with or against each other).

But as I said in my first post 179/233 have 2005, 2009, 2011 Florida, and 2007 Archimedes so doesn't that put us at 4 with 217/469?

Fun Fact: As far back as I can find, 254/971 have never lost a match together. Ever. (including offseasons) All 5 regional wins have been at SVR (2004, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014) and were straight 6-0 runs except 2009, which involved 1 tie. 971 was the alliance captain in all 5 victories.

Re: Successful Team Ups By State

At the Lake Superior Regional 4818 and 93 did awesome together because 4818 could make 3-4 tote stacks and 93 could cap them. Comparatively to other teams at a national level, that's not the best, but it was for sure the best at Lake Superior.

Clarification - as far as I know, not a recurring thing, but they did awesome just at this regional so very well could become one.

We've never won with this pairing, but 857 and 2586 have paired twice to be finalists (which is 857's best event finish).

2015:
Escanaba - Finalist
4391 + 857 + 2586

2014:
Traverse City - Finalist
857 + 3688 + 2586

2012:

2586 + 3234 + 857
