Question Designing FIRST-a-holic T-shirts....

I am really interested in designing a T-shirt for FIRST-a-holics ever since I stop being officially part of a team... And I started thinking, hey, why not have a T-shirt design that will fit most FIRST-a-holics?

Here's the category I can think of for a T-shirt design (any more categories you can think of?):

Just FIRST-a-holics in general
College FIRST-a-holics
Team 000 shirts
FIRST alumni

Each of them have a potential group of people willing to buy the shirts, but the problem is, I can't think of any designs right now.

There are few types of shirt we can get: T-shirt, Polo shirt, Long Sleeve T-Shirt, and Sweat Shirt. And I am leaning more toward Polo shirt for a more professional look. And in the front left chest area it will say something like "****** FIRST-a-holic” and maybe the person's name on there... But I believe someone can come up with a better design.

And I found this website randomly for designing T-shirts. All you have to do is select what type of shirt, what design you want, and put in your text or upload pics. The only down side is that their polo shirts only come in grey and white.

http://www.designatshirtonline.com

So, are there any better places I can order T-shirt online where we can put in our own design?

How about, designs for the T-shirt? If we don't get Polo shirt, then normal T-shirt can have pictures front and back, with titles and all... Seems like $12 for a shirt and $18 for a polo shirt is a pretty decent price. What do you think?

The Georgia Tech people here all got polo shirts from http://embroidery.net/index.htm and they came out really nice. We put the Georgia Tech RoboJackets logo on the front and the FIRST logo on the sleeve. Maybe something like that would be nice. You would have to pay a lot more for polos than for tees though. A lot more people would probably buy the FIRST alumni shirts but they all seem like a good idea to me.

Thanks Ken... I'm rather pinched to continue making the few handmade tie dye ones (for general FAH) that a few people have managed to get from me (yes, Gui - I have not forgotten about you!). And something like this would work much better than the hand tie-dye/iron on xfers I was doing!

did you just volunteer?

Lora, do this mean you just volunteered for the design of a logo for FIRST-a-holics?

A small logo on the polo shirt can be easily designed... And maybe add the person's name under or above it, and maybe team #? Only thing is that we probably don't want to use the FIRST logo... so we will need one of our own.

I would certainly like having a basic design even without getting a shirt...

Any suggestions of who will be interested in coming up a logo?

Tee Shirt Idea

Some I picked up from my Scout Days. You hang around scouting long enough, you have some of the regulars start showing up, the one's that have been in scouting so long, they don't have a troop. (hmm... sound similar)

They had a little gag going.

Generic Troop #
[BAR CODE]

That was there patch, neckerchief, and Order of the Arrow patch.

I only managed to get the Order of the Arrow Patch, and I'll attach a scan of it.

If you guys want to give me an idea of what you'd like, I'll try to whip up something or another to use on the shirts . . .

lol... mine were rather basic Ken due to having to make the text show up on some rather vivid tie dye I'll see if I can scare up a picture of the one I made Lee... I'm sure there are QUITE a few more people on here much more adept at logo design than I

Though, I'd be willing to pay more for a polo if we get something going on at least the FAH end - I could wear something like that to work

I'd love to have a FAH shirt. That would be awesome. Were I the artsy type I'd venture a design, but I'm not so I won't. I'll keep an eye out for info on shirts.
This is kinda off topic but mike, what city in VA?

I'm sorry I wasn't more clear.

The National Boy Scout Jamboree has a population of over 45,000 people. (Boy Scouts actually), plus a support population of over 2,000. (Army, National Guard and Food Service) for a total of around 47,000.

According to the 2000 Census,
http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/...s/va_tab_6.PDF
The that would make the jamboree 13th largest in the state of Virgina. The 3rd largest number has been quoted to me for many years, since at least 1989. Scouting has had a large decrease in population in the last 10 years, so that could explain why I was so far off.

Still, 13th largest isn't bad for a city that exists for one week, every 4 years. (July 3rd - August 1 of this year)

They also have approximatly 500,000 visitors during the course of the 7 days.

I guess to wrap it up, there is no city that I'm refering to, it's just an event of proportions that Dean and Woodie want. FIRST wants to change the world, Scouting has done that a few times already. Too bad in recent years they made a few very large public relations errors. (The whole homosexuals in scouting thing)

The National Jamboree is hosted at Fort AP Hill, Bowling Green Virginia. So I guess you could say Bowling Green is the City I'm refering to, but i'm not counting there population in those figures.

This got a lot longer than I expected. But it is something I feel pretty strongly about.
