Duel on the Delaware Teams - Duel Master Volunteer Deadline Approaching

Duel on the Delaware teams.

If your team plans to submit a mentor/volunteer for consideration for the Michael Wade Duel Master Volunteer Award, you are running out of time. We hope all teams take some time to recognize adults on their teams who go above and beyond for the team.

The deadline for submissions is midnight this Wednesday, October 8th. No nominations will be accepted after this date/time.

Please nominate a deserving mentor/volunteer!

Here is the text from the nomination document:

“Michael Wade” Duel Master Volunteer 2014

Award Description
This award is a combination of the FIRST Woodie Flowers Award, FIRST Unsung Hero Award, and the FIRST Volunteer Recognition Award. This award celebrates a FIRST team mentor, who demonstrates the spirit and values of what FIRST is all about.

This award is named after Mike Wade, NASA Goddard and FIRST supporter, who was greatly responsible for the success of the Duel on the Delaware and other east coast off-season FIRST competitions.

Award Criteria

1. Ability to Inspire (35%)
- inspiration to communicate engineering concepts
- inspiration to excite students about engineering
- inspiration to use problem solving skills
- inspiration to become an effective communicator
2. Ability to Communicate (35%)
- communicate to students
- communicate to other adult mentors
- communicate to parents
- communicate to educators / corporate sponsors / school administration
3. Examples Demonstrating Role Model Behavior (30%)
- Gracious professionalism
- Team leadership
- Community service
- Spirit
- Creativity

Entry Details
• any team member can nominate a candidate
• only one nomination per team will be accepted
• entry should be written up to six-hundred (600) word essay
• essay should be submitted on attached entry form to John Larock via e-mail (John.A.Larock@dupont.com) no later than October 8, 2014
• Mentor submitted must have a team registered and attending at the Duel event where the award is presented. Mentor need not be present at the event, but it is greatly preferred.

I'm sure it would be even more greatly preferred that the mentor/volunteer would be volunteering at the event!
