West Michigan - Where does FIRST find these people?

Other on team #288, RoboDAWGS, from Grandville High School and X-Rite, Delphi, and others.

Start with a snow storm that delays shipment of the field from UTC to Grand Rapids. Add carpet that never arrives and a replacement that arrives late. Add a missing tool box (lost in shipping?). Throw in airplane travel delays and lost luggage.

What do you have?

Unbridled optimism and enthusiasm, nonstop effort, and a crew that is hard for volunteers to keep up with. Rest assured that Grand Rapids is ready for FIRST! They were still working when I left at 10:30 last night but there was relatively little left to do and all essentials were working.

The question is: Does FIRST just attract this kind of staff, or does being involved in FIRST make these guys and gals so terriffic? Whichever, thank you FIRST and all others involved for what is going to be a great time.

Mark-

Working at Nats last year, I realised something. Just being able to volunteer for such a great organization is thanks enough, and would keep me in a good mood, no matter how peeved some people were that weekend I know that the West Michigan staff & volunteers feel the same way.

Dean's answer to this question was "Both".
