This is nuts!

Hey all,

I know ads and such aren't a good thing on these boards, but we're not affiliated with Fastenal or anything, and we found a steal. Thought I'd share, it may save some teams some $$ on a commonly used part this year.

Grade 2, 1/4-20 nylock, zinc finish - 1500 pieces for $18.30. That's $0.0122 each, pretty great for a nylock. Our local hardware store hits us for about $.45 each, and even online orders are much more. Ours just came in... 1500 nuts is a lot. We ordered and picked up from our from the local store so we didn't even have to pay shipping.

Happy shopping!

Re: This is nuts!

We have a Fastenal in town, and sometimes prices are pretty good. Create an account to get better prices. Buying boxes of 100 at Fastenal tends to be a lot better than buying boxes of 10/25/50 at McMaster.

Re: This is nuts!

I wouldn't use Gr 2 on anything I cared about. They are noticeably weaker than Gr 5 & there is not much of a price difference. Having said that. a gr 2 nut is better than a gr 2 bolt.

The counter guys at Fastenal have some discretion on which discount multiplier to use so it is worth making friends with them & talk about what you are doing. Especially if you have an account set up so you don't have to do that every time you order. They also prefer lots of some qty rather than onesees/twosees

Re: This is nuts!

The price you pay ends up being $18.30 + $11.50 as a pick-up-in-store fee. Still cheap, but I was expecting no additional charges if I picked it up in-store.
