PSoC 4 Prototyping Kit

Included in the KOP was a new PSoC board. I can't locate any documentation for it nor how to set up the DS to work with it.

Can anyone point me to where this information can be found?

Here at 116, we're interested in this as well. We used the previous Cypress boards every year for Digital outputs to light indicators when certain sensors had triggered. We're really interested at how the PSoC 4 can be used.

OK, thanks for the pointer to the docs. Now, other than using it like an Arduino on the bot, is there a way to use it on the driver station ala the enhanced I/O that we used to have with the PSoC 3?

You would have to make it look like a HID device I think. The TI Launchpad and the Arduino Leonardo from 16Hz from the kit can both be used for custom IO.

Yeah, I saw that the Launchpad can be used for I/O. But, it's not clear if the Leonardo and the PSoC can be used for anything except the "I". There's no mention of the "O" part in any documentation that I've seen so far.

The PSoC kit linked in this thread (www.cypress.com/CY8CKIT-049-42xx) will NOT be able to communicate with the driver station, at least without some serious custom development on the PC side. According to the documentation of the interface chip on that board (CY7C65211-24LTXI):

Can be configured to function in CDC, PHDC, or Cypress vendor class

The driver station only supports HID devices, so this board can't do the 'I' either. I don't know if the Leonardo can support the output.

The device has the hardware capability. It would have to have firmware written for it that exposes some HID outputs. I haven't heard of that being done by anyone at this point.

Hi Joe,

What about the U-HID device? This one was mentioned in a reply I got during the Beta test period. But, I haven't seen any referece to it in any of the subsequent docs or posts.

From looking at the website for U-HID, they didn't implement their output using the (admittedly obtuse and scarcely used) HID output interface. As such the output is not supported on current U-HID firmware. Perhaps they would be willing to update their firmware to support HID outputs. Seems it could be a benefit to their customers in general. Since the TI source is posted here on github, they could add a similar HID report to their device firmware to support the same outputs.
