Getalliance VI
In LabVIEW the WPI library has been greatly updated with a bunch of new VIs. One I saw was getalliance. I have not checked its code yet, but does this mean that in future seasons that robots on the same alliance can alliance can communicate with each other?

Re: Getalliance VI
I am not currently at a machine with an updated Labview for FRC Library, but as I recall, this VI has been there for a while, and all it does is return "Red" or "Blue" which can be useful in some situations. It doesn't communicate with other robots on your alliance, but with your driver station, which reports whatever alliance the FMS says you are on.

Re: Getalliance VI
I can confirm that getAlliance returns either red or blue. Works the same in Java and C++.

Re: Getalliance VI
I have used this VI in the past, it simply returns what alliance your driver station is at. Useful for changing LED colors on your robot, not much else.

Thank you all for explaining this.

Re: Getalliance VI
This year, it does tell you what color carpet your totes and robots will be sitting on. May be useful if you are using a camera or other optical sensors.
