It is a shame to have so many teams turned away without a chance to compete with non-random alliances. I would rather have one less seeding match or run later on each day. Or give up a practice round since these are very disorganized anyway.

Adding another set of alliances competing would add only a 1/2hour-hour of time to Saturday..

Think of how long we sit after the competition waiting for it to get dark so we can do awards..

Tack it on their.. take an hour off the party..

I agree, let's give more chances. It will certainly add some excitement in the finals.

As many of you know, the time taken for elimination rounds is not that long. They almost seem like they are too short. My feelings are that if you add an additional round, you double the teams in the finals, and more teams will feel like they have accomplished something. It is very disheartening to work for three days and not get picked, and in the current form, only 10 out of 80 teams will go into the finals in Florida. It seems obvious that added opportunity is a good thing, and FIRST should increase the teams in the finals. Anything less would be doing a huge injustice to the teams that work so hard and travel so far to be at Nationals.

I agree and will feel sorry for many very good teams (possibly including ourselves) that will not get into the eliminations. We just did the 4 team eliminations at Chicago in about 1.5 hours. So at Nationals they could do 4 team divisions each in about 1.5 hours, followed by the final 4 in another 1.5 hours. At worst, it could take 3.5 hours total if we added the extra round of matches.

I know Nate posted a worst case scenario of about 6 hours, but this is not very likely.
